11 Spora (SOWING)

Sowing the Earth, Sowing People…

Through last year’s exhibition on the theme of Loss, the idea of Sowing “fell” and took root in our minds, as life—the only spell against Loss, Ruin, and Death—is Sowing. Following it, we embarked on a new journey that gave breath to this year’s exhibition, “A showcase, a window to the gaze…”.

The cycle of life, its loss, and its rebirth is told by many myths that fade into the depths of time.
And as humankind moves forward, being itself part of this eternal cycle of life on the planet, the journey of seeds and the concept of Sowing become an inspiration and guide for Art, nourishment for intellectuals, writers, and artists.
As director Filippos Koutsaftis points out in his film “Arcadia, Rejoice”:
“Sowing is the function. The seed is the word, and the field is the soul of man, which, as long as it remains fallow, is at risk.”

Group exhibition “SPORA” (SOWING) from October 14, 2024, to November 10, 2024, at ATTILIO, as part of the tribute “A showcase, a window…”.

…you shall dwell there for one season of the three each year,
the other two with me and the other immortals.
When the earth, with her fragrant flowers of spring,
of all kinds, blooms, then from the pitch-black darkness
you will rise again, a great wonder to gods and mortals.

Excerpt from the Homeric Hymn to Demeter,
the return of Persephone
